The Faculty of Pharmacy at the Arab American University has held the first meeting of its Advisory board, whose membership includes an elite group of experts and officials from various pharmacy specializations in the governmental and private sectors.

In the meeting, the strategic plan and development opportunities for the Faculty as part of the efforts aimed at providing a supportive and stimulating environment for university education, and enhancing the investment of available resources were discussed. The attendees also discussed the board’s role in improving the quality of the educational and research process as well as providing training opportunities for students.

Dr. Muayad Absaa, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, said that the University seeks to create a fertile and encouraging environment for students and researchers to graduate distinguished staffs that compete in the labor market and participate in the development of the nation in light of the political, economic and social changes as well as the technological progress.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Hatem Hijaz stressed that the University is keen to enhance cooperation with the local and international community and achieve effective and sustainable partnerships capable of networking with various pharmaceutical and health sectors and to benefit from the expertise of board members in improving the Faculty’s programs and curricula.

Dr. Adli Saleh, Vice President for Planning and Development, stated that the University’s vision in forming the Advisory Board for the Faculty of Pharmacy is to strengthen the principle of governance through the members and experts it includes in various fields in the public and private sectors, so as to raise the reputation of the University and provide training and work opportunities for students and graduates.

Board members presented their opinions and proposals in order to improve the quality of academic programs, link them with the industrial and research sectors, meet the needs of the labor market, and keep pace with the development witnessed by the pharmacy profession and pharmaceutical education. The Board praised the remarkable development the Faculty has witnessed since it was established.

The meeting took place on the University’s Ramallah campus with the presence of the University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, Vice President for Planning and Development Dr. Adli Saleh, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Hatem Hijaz, and members of the Advisory Board or their representatives.

It is noteworthy that the Board includes in its membership the President of the Palestine Pharmacists Syndicate, Dr. Ayman Khammash, President of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries, Mr. Rami Al-Qutub, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Quds Pharmaceuticals Group, Dr. Iyad Al-Masrouji, Director General of the General Administration of Pharmacy, Dr. Tahani Fattouh, General Manager of GKS Company, Dr. Walid Obaidullah, Director General of Respect/ Advisor to Sama Pharmaceutical Company, Dr. Adeeb Al-Saifi, Nara Jabour, a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
