The Arab American University student Anas Mustafa Bsharat won the gold medal in the West Asian Karate Championship, which was recently organized in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in which 9 countries participated.

Bsharat is the first Palestinian to win a gold medal. However, participants in previous championships won the bronze and silver medals.

Student Bsharat, a third year student at the Faculty of Sport Sciences, indicated that he participated in the semi-final and final matches to reach first place in the championship, and that he is currently preparing to participate in the Asian Championship, which will be held next month in China. He is preparing in Istanbul now, where he will be during next week before going to China to be the only Palestinian participant nominated to represent the State of Palestine in this championship.

It is noteworthy that the student Bsharat has previously won the universities’ gold medal in karate, organized at the Arab American University, and he is a player of the University’s team, representing it in many sport events.
