Dr. Amani Yousef Owda (Assistant Professor) received her MSc. degree (Hons.) in communication engineering from The University of Manchester, UK in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK in 2018. She is currently an assistant professor with the department of natural, engineering, and technology sciences, at the Arab American University in Palestine. Since 2018, she leads a research focusing on next generation wearable devices and their integration and use in the healthcare system. In addition to machine learning, artificial intelligence, image processing, medical applications of microwave and millimetre-wave imaging, security screening and anomalies detection, radar systems reflectivity measurements, passive sensing and imaging (radiometric measurements), electromagnetics modelling and simulations, circuits design, digital filters design and implementation, low noise amplifier design, wireless communications, developments of analogue and digital modulations techniques and sensors. She is a reviewer in IEEE transaction of medical imaging and Sensors Journals.

Research: Security Screening, Machine Learning and Medical Applications.
01/03/201931/07/2020 Research AssociateUniversity of ManchesterI was part of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Funded Project “Passively Powered Non-invasive Human Body Sensing on Bio-Degradable Conformal Substrates” Project Reference No: EP/P027075/1. The Project aims to create new bio-sensor devices which can operate for many days at a time and then naturally bio-degrade to minimize electronic waste. Unlike current wearables, which are based on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Our new devices will mount the electronics on highly flexible ‟temporary tattoos‟ which are conformal with the skin, following all of its contours to get a better signal and longer lasting connection to the body. Interconnect tracks will be made using screen/inkjet printed Graphene, giving a highly novel manufacturing process which for the electronics presents new design rules, constraints and opportunities compared to conventional PCB level circuit design.
