Overview

The Climate Change Center (CCC), established in 2018 at the Arab American University in Palestine, is the first dedicated research center in Palestine focused on addressing climate change issues. The center aims to lead nationally and regionally in scientific research, advanced technologies, and capacity building to mitigate climate change impacts.

CCC aspires to be a global partner in supporting climate adaptation and mitigation efforts through scientific and applied research, awareness campaigns, and community initiatives that raise public consciousness on climate issues, with a focus on opinion leaders, youth, and decision-makers.

The center also fosters international cooperation through partnerships with global research institutions to exchange expertise and provides policy recommendations to support government efforts in developing effective climate policies. Additionally, CCC participates in regional and international projects promoting sustainable development and green growth to meet climate challenges.

Vision

Achieve leadership in scientific research, advanced technologies, and capacity building in the field of climate change at national and regional levels.

Mission

Strengthen national capacities through cutting-edge scientific research across key sectors affected by and contributing to climate change. The center aims to implement effective measures to tackle climate challenges, protect the environment, and foster sustainability through research, education, and community engagement.

About the Center

The Center serves as a pivotal pillar in promoting environmental sustainability through its diverse activities in scientific research, education, technology, and community engagement. The Center aims to achieve national and regional leadership by developing innovative solutions to adapt to and mitigate climate change, directly contributing to sustainable development and green growth.

The Center has advanced infrastructure, including a University-based carbon emissions measurement station, which is used to monitor and assess the institution's carbon footprint, reflecting the University's commitment to reducing emissions and enhancing energy efficiency. It also has a meteorological station that enables the collection of accurate data on local climate change, used to support relevant academic and community research. Additionally, the Center features a smart greenhouse that integrates climate-smart agriculture and water management technologies, opening the way for practical applications in environmental agricultural education.
