Schiff bases are regarded as one of the most important azomethine group in organic compounds acted as an intermediate for many processes. [1] The work of this project is focusing on synthesis of a new type of Schiff bases by condensation of benzene sulfonyl hydrazides (that can be synthesized from the corresponding benzene sulfonyl chlorides and hydrazine easily) as starting materials with different carbonyl compounds (mainly aldehydes and ketones). The isolated Schiff bases can be purified, characterized by the spectroscopic instruments (IR, UV-Vis, GC\MS and NMR) before investigation of its potential as inVitro antimicrobial and anti fungal activities against different strains of bacteria and fungi and as inhibitors for some enzymes.
