Vision

The faculty of medicine envisions the provision of outstanding medical practitioners capable of delivering distinguished healthcare services to serve human life and improve people’s health.  

Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Medicine is to provide student-centered learning, innovative teaching methodologies, research, cutting-edge technologies, and an outstanding clinical learning environment that develops intellectual, ethical, and competent medical practitioners with high professionalism, integrity, and leadership capacity. Students are expected to obtain essential academic knowledge, clinical skills, lifelong learning capabilities, and reflective practices that enable them to deliver exceptional medical services locally, regionally, and globally. The Faculty of Medicine is determined to create a supportive and nourishing environment that attracts outstanding faculty and researchers and promotes internal and external scientific collaboration  

Goals

  • Promote health and well-being of individuals and families through the provision of high-quality and advanced medical practice.  

  • Provide outstanding learning opportunities that enable medical students to acquire fundamental knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning skills.  

  • Equip graduates with exceptional clinical skills necessary for the provision of effective medical care.  

  • Prepare graduates with mastery in disease prevention, diagnosis, and management of common medical and surgical problems. 

  • Promote compassionate, ethical, teamwork, leadership, and effective communication skills throughout the community medical care services. 

  • Prepare distinguished medical researchers with a high capacity for lifelong self-learning and interdisciplinary research. 

     

Career of Graduates

Preparing doctors who are able to communicate, providing all medical services to the community in an effective, distinguished and ethical manner, and they occupy many positions in hospitals and health centers.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students should be equipped with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and abilities to excel in their endeavors.

At the end of the doctor of medicine program, students are expected to achieve the following core competencies domains and learning outcomes:

Scientific Medical knowledge application:

  • Integrate biomedical, clinical, behavioral, epidemiological, psychological sciences, and public health in the medical care of individuals and families. 
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in the formulation of appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Recognize and apply cross-infection control guidelines in medical practice. 

  • Employ healthy behaviors, disease prevention, and health promotion measures for healthy and sick clients.

  • Incorporate the impact of systemic medical diseases in the management of the client’s condition. 

  • Use critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills in solving altered physical health.
  • Recognize the boundaries of general practice, and refer to the appropriate medical specialties.

  • Employ principles of cost-effective medicine, and health informatics in the analysis of the working organization, financing, and delivery of health care.

Patient Clinical Care: Assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment, and evaluation.

  • Assess and record the relevant history of the patient’s medical, social, surgical, and general health status.
  • Perform necessary clinical, radiographic, laboratory, and histopathologic examinations in assessing patients’ needs and interpreting results.

  • Prioritize the patient’s problem, and formulate appropriate differential diagnoses.
  • Implement medical treatment plans based on established differential diagnoses, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmaceutical agents to restore the client’s health status. 
  • Observe, assist and perform common surgical procedures safely and effectively.
  • Evaluate and monitor the progress of treatment and patient’s health outcomes.

  • Recognize and manage medical and surgical emergencies competently.

  • Demonstrate awareness and effective use of the health care systems’ resources to provide optimum client care

Medical Professionalism.

  1. Apply the scientific principles needed for the provision of high-standard medical care.
  2. Demonstrate leadership, and teamwork skills necessary for the provision of effective medical practice.
  3. Practice medicine with a high professional attitude and work ethic. 
  4. Develop effective communication skills with patients, families, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams.
  5. Demonstrate compassion, integrity, and respect to a diverse client population in addition to accountability for patient privacy and autonomy.

Medical Research and lifelong learning.

  • Appreciate the role of research in advancing knowledge and clinical practice.

  • Execute scientific research projects for advancing specific knowledge in medical clinical practice.

  • Perform practice-based medicine and lifelong learning to develop optimum personal improvement in medical practice.
