Faculty LABs

Overview

The Electrical Machines Laboratory is one of the most important laboratories in Electrical Engineering, as it aims to bridge the theoretical aspects studied in lectures with practical applications through the devices tested within the laboratory. This lab offers students a hands-on learning experience with various electrical machines, including generators, motors, and transformers. Students gain an in-depth understanding of the components, operating principles, characteristics, and unique features of these machines. They also learn essential skills in testing, operating, fault diagnosis, and maintenance for each type of machine.

The laboratory also helps students understand how to select the appropriate machine for a specific application by conducting practical experiments to verify the different performance characteristics of these machines. The lab is equipped with advanced protection systems to ensure the safety of students during experiments.

The main practical experiments in the laboratory include Testing single-phase and three-phase transformers, Testing DC generators and motors, Studying the characteristics of synchronous motors and generators, and Testing induction motors under various operating conditions.

The laboratory enables students to perform precise measurements to calculate the efficiency of electrical machines and compare different types using modern tools and techniques. This prepares them to work in the electrical energy market with high efficiency and professionalism.
