Overview

The department offers educational and training opportunities tailored to nursing students, enhancing their academic success and retention. It provides high-quality academic and practical training, preparing graduates to serve Palestinian society as health leaders, researchers, caregivers, educators, advocates, and counselors. The department fosters productive relationships with the community, higher education institutions, businesses, local schools, and regional colleges.

A standout feature is its use of advanced technology, including a simulation lab modeled as a mini-hospital. This lab offers a safe training environment with high-tech patient dolls, classrooms, control rooms, and debriefing rooms. The simulators allow students to practice various nursing skills (e.g., intravenous injections, CPR, and catheter insertion) in realistic scenarios before real-world application. The lab is equipped with a camera system for monitoring and discussing student performance.

Additionally, the department houses the American Heart Association's Heart Center, accredited for training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced life support (ACLS, PALS). The center trains doctors, nurses, students, and emergency responders using state-of-the-art equipment and qualified trainers.

This department provide educational and training opportunities for students that address the real needs of nursing students in order to improve their academic retention and success. Students of this department will experience a high quality academic and practical training environment. What Makes this department unique is that it prepare and train graduates to meet the needs and demands of the Palestinian society as health leaders, researchers, caregivers, teachers/educators, advocators, and counselors. In addition, it makes a productive and mutually beneficial relationships between the Nursing Department and the community, higher education organizations, businesses, local schools, and regional colleges and universities.

The Department also used modern technology in classroom and laboratories as they has a simulation laboratory, simulating a mini-hospital, providing the students a safe training environment and giving them an opportunity to train for all kinds of situations that he/ she will deal with. So it was equipped with the highest-quality patients-dolls and technology, it includes 5 classrooms, 2 control rooms, and 4 Debriefing Rooms. These advanced and high-efficiency puppets allows applying all the nursing skills of each specialty, as they work with a Wireless system and linked with control devices (tablets) to control and programming them in every possible scenarios and situations a student might face in the hospital and apply it safely before working in one. The students can apply all their nursing skills such as inserting intravenous injection, giving medicines, inserting urinary catheter and stomach tube, hear the heartbeats and lungs sound, preform CPR and all other skills that can work with any patient in the hospital. The simulator lab rooms contain a complete camera system (SMOTS) to monitor students’ work with patients in the rooms, transfer the image and sound to other students in the debriefing room, and discuss students' work with patients.

In addition to the modern technologies used by the Faculty in classroom and laboratories there is the Heart Center of the American Heart Association, which was opened at the American Arab University of the American Heart Association in the Faculty of Nursing. It was accredited and authorized as an international center for training on cardiopulmonary resuscitation after being equipped with state-of-the-art technology and equipment to match the latest international centers. It is worth mentioning that a team of highly qualified and competent trainers giving trainings to doctors and nurses in hospitals, medical centers, nursing school students, ambulance staff, civil defense and local community according to their needs. These include Basic Cardiac Resuscitation (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Resuscitation (ACLS) and Child Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
