What is the Academic Year ?

It is two obligatory semesters, each semester is 16 weeks and can also be with a summer semester optional but obligatory for Faculty of Dentistry students – 8 weeks long. 

What is the study plan ( Curriculum ) ?

A set of courses that the student must pass successfully to obtain a bachelor's degree in the specialization he is studying. it consists of university and Faculty requirements “courses”, obligatory and elective courses for the specialization in addition to free courses.

What is the Credit Hour ?

It is a measuring unit for the number of contact hours a student must attend for a specific course each week throughout the semester. For example, a theoretical course its weight is (3) credit hours, this means that the student must attend (3) hours of communication per week for the usual semester - the first and second - and be doubled in the summer semester.

When to Pay Semester Fees ?

The student must pay the semester fees before registering for the courses during the registration period announced for each semester to enable him/ her to register the required courses.

What is an academic notice?

The student receives an academic warning if he doesn’t achieve a cumulative average of at least 1.67 in any regular semester, enrollment semesters are not included.

Postponement of Study

Students can postpone their studies at the University for a period of not more than four semesters (two years of study), whether intermittent or consecutive, with the exception of the enrollment semesters. The student is allowed to postponed by a maximum of one month from the beginning of the semester.

What Are the Minimum and Maximum Hours Registered in the Semester for Master Students ?

The minimum 3 credit hours and the maximum 12 credit hours.

Return to Study After Withdrawing From the University or Dropping Out From Bachelor's Degree

A student who has withdrawn from the university or has dropped out in any semester may complete the application form for re-enrollment at the university and submit it to the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, conditioned that he has not completed more than four semesters of withdrawal, or postponed separately or combined.

Return to Study After Withdrawing From the University or Dropping Out From Master's Degree

A student who has withdrawn from the university or has dropped out in any semester may complete the application form for re-enrollment at the university and submit it to the Deanship of Admissions and Registration, conditioned that he has not completed more than Three semesters of withdrawal, or postponed separately or combined.

Conditions to Transfer From Other Universities to AAUP

Students can transfer from other universities or institutions of higher education to Arab American University according to the following conditions:

  1. The student should fulfill the university admission requirements in accordance with admission policies in that year.
  2. The student should be transferred from an educational institution recognized by the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  3. The student must be a non-degree student in the educational institution he wants to transfer from.
  4. The student must not be terminated for any reason.
  5. The student should bring an official (stamped) description of all courses in the transcript from the current university.
  6. The student average at his original university should not be less than (60%) or (1.67) or (C-), except for dentists their average mustn’t drop under (70%) or (2.00) or (C).
  7. The courses in which the student has got at least 70% or (C) or (good) in all majors, shall be considered. Conditioned to obtain descriptions of all courses and the course hours studied at his/her university should be lager or equals the course hours at AAUP. Only 70 credit hours for the transferee to the Engineering specializations. Only 75 credit hours for the transferee to Faculty of Dentistry, and only 60 credit hours for the transferee to other specializations.
  8. Haven’t been more than three years since the last course he took at the university he’s moving from.

How to Withdraw From a Course or Semester Electronically Through the Edugate (Portal)

You can withdraw from a course or semester as following:

  1. Use your Edugate ( Portal ) account by accessing ( portal.aaup.edu )
  2. Go to “Acadamic” box then select “Withdrawal Course With W” or “Withdrawal From Semester Request” according to your case.
  3. To Withdraw From Semester, select the Status Description "Withdrawal From Semester" option and then click "Approve and Confirm my Selection of Status" and then click "Save"

     

    To withdraw from a course, Select the course you want to withdraw then click on “Withdraw Courses”.


     
  4. A message will show to confirm you withdraw request from the semester or course ( with the detailed course ). Enter your “Verification Code” and your “Nationality ID Number” then select “Yes”.

Note: the verification code is sent to your university email account.
