Overview

The Master of Construction Management aims to prepare students for roles managing people, equipment, materials, built environment and assets, as well as roles overseeing technological processes and with managerial aspects related to the design, construction and maintenance of buildings and civil infrastructure. It provides a structural study of advanced management theories, techniques and practices in the planning and management of building and infrastructure projects.

The Master of Construction Management is a professional degree that will kick start your career in the construction industry or enhance your existing expertise to advance your career.

 

Goals

The general goals of the program are too providing a theoretical knowledge, as well as the practical skills, to manage the social, technological, financial and environmental challenges facing the construction industry today.

The specific goals of the program are to:

  • Demonstrate high - level advanced knowledge and skills in construction management practice related to design, construction, operation and maintenance of buildings and civil infrastructure.

  • Plan an independent research project in a relevant construction management topic by applying appropriate research principles, management tools or techniques.

  • Reflect in managing practical issues and best practices related to construction, operation and maintenance in buildings.

  • Analyze and interpret complex problems using critical thinking and team- based independent judgement.

  • Develop a clear communication skills and professional decisions to specialist and non - specialist audience, including clients, customers and project teams.

  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy, accountability credibility, ethics, and responsibility for all personal work outputs.

  •  Implementation of whole life approaches to construction.

  •  Demonstrate expertise in the utilization of managerial concepts, processes, tools and techniques.

  • Initiate, develop and implement distinctive management solutions.

  •  Develop engineering skills through the construction process lifecycle.

  • Observe, record and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods and to present results in appropriate forms for the international construction management industry.

  •  Use management software similar to that used in professional practice.
