General Jebril Al-Rjoub, the head of the Palestinian Football Federation announced that the Asian Football Confederation has agreed formally on considering the International Stadium of the Arab American University as a place to host all the championships and the international and continents games, and asserted that this is a great achievement to the Palestinian sports and the universities sports and that is a step forward to establishing a national sport.
Al-Rjoub congratulated the Arab American University for getting the formal consideration from the Asian Football Confederation and said: “the stadium will host the first three games among the Asian Football Confederation for those less than 16 years old and 19 years old, and this first game will be on the 16^th of September between the Palestinian team and the Yemen team for the players less than 16 years old, the second game will be between the Yemen team and the Midlife team for less than 16 years old on the 18^th of the same month. And for the less than 19 years old teams, the University stadium will host on the 6^th of October a game between the Palestinian and the United Arab Emirates teams”. This speech was during a visit combined with members of the Palestinian Football Federation at the Arab American University facilities for sports, while he was received by the University President Professor Mahmoud AbuMwais, the Vice-President for the Community Affairs Dr. Nitham Thiab and some other university staff.

Professor AbuMwais welcomed General Al-Rjoub and praised his great efforts in developing the Palestinian sport by building the institutions to embrace it, transferring the Palestinian sport’s voice to the international and regional forums and for freeing the Palestinian sport from the occupation practices against it. AbuMwais also gave Al-Rjoub an explanation about the goals and the mission of the university and how the university is concerned in developing the sport as the sport is a message of love and peace.

During the visit, Al-Rjoub asserted that he was witnessing the developing of the Arab American University since it was only an idea, and he praised the Board of Directors for their efforts and their continuous quest to develop knowledge and science. He also indicated that the sports’ sector was marginalized before and that he came to develop it after being the Head of the Palestinian Football Federation. 

At the end of the meeting, Professor AbuMwais with Al-Rjoub went to a tour to visit the international stadium, the closed gyms and the outdoor fields where Al-Rjoub praised the great efforts of the University in building those facilities to introduce people more to the sport culture in Palestine.
