What will I learn

In addition to basic engineering sciences like Math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, Medical Equipment Engineering students study electronics to understand the components of medical devices. They learn Anatomy and Physiology, focusing on how organs, systems, and cells function in a living organism.
Students also explore biomaterials, including metals, ceramics, and polymers, with an emphasis on their clinical use. They study structural mechanics, blood flow, and transport processes relevant to biomedical design.
The program covers medical devices, sensors, and instrumentation, highlighting safety risks and clinical applications. Medical imaging techniques are also studied for internal body analysis and intervention.
Lastly, students learn tissue engineering, combining cells, materials, and biochemistry to restore, maintain, or replace biological tissues.

How will I learn

Medical Equipment Engineering applies engineering principles to biology and medicine, making it a multidisciplinary program that integrates biology and medical theory.
Students will engage in a blend of lectures, practical applications, and group projects to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They will also gain hands-on experience in labs, experimenting with medical equipment and analyzing system performance. Workshops and field training through internships offer real-world exposure to biomedical systems and industry practices.
The program equips students with the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate problems and develop solutions. It fosters independent inquiry and continuous learning, preparing students to adapt to the evolving biomedical field. Students will also develop leadership, communication, and ethical responsibility, working both independently and collaboratively.

Jenin campus

The Arab American University operates two campuses: the main campus in Jenin and a newer campus in Ramallah. The program is delivered at the main campus on Telfit Street, Jenin, Palestine. Typically, all academic activities associated with the program occur at the university's main campus in Jenin, Palestine.

Classes are conducted in classrooms and laboratories during the day. Since 2019, the university has implemented a blended lecture system, combining in-person instruction with online sessions via Zoom when necessary.

Libraries

AAUP’s Library is located on the 4th floor of the IT building on Jenin campus. The size of the library is about 1400 square meters, where the stacks, reading areas, staff work areas, and computers for library applications are located.
