What will I learn

Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) is the science that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of various diseases with clinical laboratory tests. Clinical chemistry, genetics, toxicology, histotechnology (pathology), hematology, medical microbiology, immunology, transfusion science, and quality assurance are among the subjects that will teach students about human health and disease. Additionally, students will learn how to cooperate and work in teams with other medical experts. Main areas of medical laboratory training include:

· Clinical Bacteriology: The identification of pathogenic microorganisms and their antibiotic susceptibility.

· Clinical Chemistry: The process of testing bodily fluids for chemical analytes such urea, triglycerides, glucose, and cholesterol etc.

· Clinical Hematology: The study of blood cells including abnormalities, with emphasis on procedures of laboratory examination.

· Clinical Immunohematology: The theory and techniques of donor selection, processing blood for transfusion and resolving incompatibilities due to unexpected antibodies.

· Principals of Clinical Administration and Education: Introduction of basic principles of laboratory administration and education.

· Quality management and assurance: It is crucial to ensure that tests and analysis are performed appropriately. Erroneous documentation may result in misreported news and disastrous outcomes. For example, if data entry errors occur, a healthy patient may be mistakenly told they have a particular illness. In addition to the serious adverse effects, there may be psychological, emotional, and legal ramifications if a patient receives a prescription for a disease they do not have.

How will I learn

The Bachelors program in Medical Laboratory Sciences at Arab American University- Palestine (AAUP) aspires to graduate qualified specialists with scientific knowledge and high practical skills to work in medical laboratories.Your educational journey is tailored to better meet the objectives of the courses you select. Lectures, tutorials, video shows, case studies, discussions, debates, and power-point presentations on subjects and current events linked to the course material are all used in class sessions to help students acquire these abilities. Students learn and improve the procedural skills needed to investigate a phenomenon, carry out experiments, write code, gather data, create and test a prototype, and other tasks in small teams in the lab. Students can learn the particular skills required to perform and analyze particular kinds of studies in a lab setting. Students may learn how to use scientific instruments and conventions via lab sessions. For instance, they might learn how to make observations, take measurements, and follow precise scientific protocols in addition to learning how to use scientific equipment securely. Knowledge about the nature of science. Finally, students will learn through research experience, seminars and workshops.
