Overview

The Nursing Program at the Arab American University was established as an independent entity during the academic year 2016-2017, marking a significant milestone in advancing nursing education and practice. The program is committed to preparing compassionate, patient- and family-centered professionals capable of delivering high-quality nursing care across diverse healthcare settings. To achieve this, the program offers cutting-edge facilities, including a simulation lab, a Virtual Reality (VR) lab, and an American Heart Association (AHA)-accredited heart center for cardiopulmonary resuscitation training. These resources provide students with practical, hands-on experience, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the evolving challenges of the healthcare sector.

Goals

Nursing Program’s Goals:

Program Goal 1.               Prepare competent nurses who are qualified to provide holistic care for individuals, families, and groups within Palestinian society.

Program Goal 2.               Prepare a generalist nurse who demonstrates competent clinical skills and leadership qualities through the use of transfer of learning, critical thinking, and decision-making.

Program Goal 3.               Equip nursing graduates with lifelong learning skills, technological expertise, and strong teamwork abilities to ensure the delivery of exceptional nursing care.

Prepare professional nurses who are responsive to the ethical, legal, social, and political healthcare needs of the society.

Integrate knowledge of basic medical sciences and core nursing theoretical knowledge, applying this understanding along with skills in information management technology and healthcare policy to deliver quality patient care.

Individualized Application of the Nursing Process

Demonstrate appropriate and individualized application of the nursing process in all bachelor nurse roles.

Clinical Prevention and Health Promotion for Better Outcomes

Utilize clinical prevention and health promotion at the individual and population levels to improve health outcomes.

Compassionate, Patient-Centered Care Across the Lifespan

Deliver compassionate, patient and family-centered care across the life span and education that reflects an understanding of human growth, development, nutrition, genomics, spirituality, and culture in all healthcare settings

Clinical Reasoning for Evidence-Based Nursing Practice

Utilize clinical reasoning as the basis for making judgments for professional nursing practice established in current evidence and best practices

Effective Communication and Collaboration in Healthcare

Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team, patient, and family to provide exceptional and safe patient care
