What will I learn

In the Bachelor of Optometry program, you will learn how to conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual functions and detect vision disorders and eye diseases. You will acquire skills in diagnosing and managing common eye conditions, including prescribing corrective lenses, medications, and vision therapies. You will learn how to use advanced diagnostic technology to conduct accurate assessments of eye health, and you will receive training on delivering patient-centered care with a focus on improving visual health and quality of life. Additionally, you will learn how to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, provide vision rehabilitation services for individuals with special needs, and engage in public health initiatives. You will also gain skills in research and evidence-based practice, and you will develop into a professional committed to lifelong learning and professional development, while adhering to ethical and legal standards in your practice.

How will I learn

You will learn through a combination of theoretical lessons and practical applications. Field training will be provided in every semester through the university’s available clinics, allowing you to practically apply what you learn in each course. You will participate in hands-on training sessions in eye examinations, diagnosing and managing conditions, and using advanced technology to assess eye health. In addition to on-campus training, there will be opportunities for field training in specialized clinics and health centers, enabling you to gain the practical experience needed to work with patients and provide comprehensive eye care. This continuous field training will help you develop your skills comprehensively and fully prepare you to practice optometry efficiently and professionally.
