Overview

The Ph.D. in Educational Leadership program seeks to advance administrative practices to the level of leadership practices based on creativity and influence on employees. It focuses on the importance of change leadership as the necessary leadership style to achieve effective coexistence of our educational institutions in the fields of general and higher education, so that performance shifts from administrative practices to leadership behaviors to advance these institutions towards competitiveness and universality.

This program is designed for individuals who intend to build an academic career focused on conducting research and analysis in the multidisciplinary field of educational leadership, or who wish to build an administrative career focused on innovative and inquiry-based leadership to develop intellectual, technical and human skills that qualify them to lead educational institutions efficiently and competently. This is achieved by providing learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to realize their potential as leaders, gain a deeper understanding of the impact of institutional behavior and leadership on educational institutions, and help them review current practices followed in institutions and develop strategies for change.

Moreover, this program seeks to prepare distinguished educational leaders who keep pace with the requirements of the era, which is characterized by a huge accumulation of knowledge and a remarkable acceleration in technological developments, to become a standard for modernity in the field of education. The program also provides intensive tools for accurate and serious scientific research, and enables graduates to build a solid knowledge base and hone exceptional skills that qualify graduates to make a real impact in the world of educational policy-making and guiding educational practices. This program enables its graduates to occupy sensitive leadership positions in various educational fields, starting from formulating innovative educational policies, through distinguished university teaching, and reaching the assumption of leading research and academic positions in educational institutions.

  • Develop the student’s understanding of contemporary educational leadership and the difference between educational leadership and administration.

  • Provide students with knowledge of historical and contemporary educational leadership theories and the ability to analyze and critique these theories.

  • Instill within the students an understanding of contemporary educational approaches in K-12 and higher education.

  • Enable the students to evaluate the educational landscape and develop strategies that help their institutions succeed.

  • Provide the students with the skills to design, analyze, critique and conduct educational research using qualitative and quantitative methods.

  • Develop the student’s ability to apply leadership knowledge and skills to lead K-12 schools and institutions of higher education in a time of change.

This program prepares graduates for leadership positions in public and higher education institutions, as researchers in research and development centers, and as workers in local and international educational institutions as leaders of change.
