Overview

The Department of Physics was established at the beginning of the academic year 2005/2006, and is considered one of the main departments in the Faculty of Science. It graduates students in the field of specialization in addition to offering many courses that serve other specializations in the university. The first cohort graduated at the end of the academic year 2008/2009. The Department of Physics offers a major bachelor's program, and two minors in computer science and education, with the aim of preparing competent graduates capable of serving their community in various fields such as teaching and scientific research

A group of distinguished faculty members with discriminated scientific ranks and specializations supervises the teaching of students and consolidates their physics concepts, and they are assisted in this by the administrative staff in the department

Vision

Advancement in scientific research, educational plan and teaching methods to match international standards, so that the department becomes a model in providing the cognitive and scientific level to students, which makes it distinguished at the level of local, regional and international universities

Mission

Providing students with the best skills and knowledge in their specializations at the academic and professional levels to support society with specialized competencies in education and scientific research. This can be done by providing the appropriate educational and academic environment, which qualifies graduates with scientific competencies that work to develop and serve the country

Goals

Providing students of the department with the necessary expertise that qualifies them to engage in the education sector and continue their academic achievement
Preparing scientifically qualified cadres in the field of physics and its applications to teach in the public education sector, higher institutes, and others
Preparing students appropriately to qualify them to continue postgraduate studies and scientific research in various physical sciences and their applications
·Providing some scientific and academic bodies in Palestine with qualified researchers to work in research centers such as the Environmental Studies, Radiation Protection Centers, and the Standards and Metrology Authority
Encouraging authorship and conducting scientific research in various fields of physics
Supporting the departments of the Faculty of Science and other scientific faculties at the university by preparing and developing specialists in the field of other sciences
Holding scientific courses for physics teachers in coordination with the Ministry of Education to keep pace with the development of curricula

Career of Graduates

Graduates of this program are expected to be qualified to work in different fields in physics sectors such as:

Work in the field of teaching
Work in the field of educational supervision in the directorates of education
Work in the field of scientific research
Work in the laboratories of the physics department in various universities
Qualification to complete postgraduate studies and obtain a master's or doctorate degree
