This study explores the features of the textual cohesion in “Sunset Garden’’ (hadiqat alghurub) poem by Dr. Ghazi Al- Qosaibi, the last before his death. It highlights the effect of cohesion on forming the poem’s language, which reflects his grief and sense of death. In addition, the study shows the connection between the semantic and syntactic structures and their impact on forming the entire image of the poem. The impact of textual structures is manifested in shaping the image of self-eulogy and through employing various cohesive devices, such as  repetitions and references. This study follows the descriptive, analytical, and statistical approaches.

The study also aims to highlight the effectiveness of the textual cohesion theory on describing the cohesion in “Sunset Garden’ poem and investigate the possibility of applying this theory to other Arabic texts.
