Our state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Lab is located on the second floor of the Arab American University/Palestine (AAUP) and has been operational since 2015. The facilities include:

  • Four debriefing rooms: Each room accommodates 15–20 persons.
  • Two control rooms: For managing and overseeing simulations.
  • One Intensive Care Unit (ICU) simulation room: For critical care scenarios.
  • Two medical-surgical nursing rooms: Designed for general patient care training.
  • One pediatric simulation room: For child-specific care scenarios.
  • One maternity simulation room: For obstetrics and maternal care training.
  • Video and monitoring capabilities: To facilitate real-time feedback and session recording for debriefing purposes.

Manikin-Based Simulations

Manikin-based simulations utilize high-fidelity simulators, including manikins that breathe, produce breath sounds, heart tones, and have palpable pulses. These manikins are equipped with monitors capable of displaying EKG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, and more. Various medical procedures can be performed on these simulators, such as bag-mask ventilation, intubation, defibrillation, and others.

The use of manikins in clinical simulations allows nursing students, both current and future, to "practice on simulators" before engaging with real patients. These simulations provide realistic feedback through computer-regulated systems that mimic vital signs, such as pulses and chest movements. By practicing clinical skills in a safe and controlled environment, students acquire permanent and effective techniques for patient evaluation and treatment.
