Overview

In December 2022, the Arab American University established the Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders Diagnosis and Treatment Center as part of the AAUP Medical Rehabilitation Complex. The center aims to provide rehabilitation services for speech, language, swallowing, and hearing to all age groups, from infancy to old age, in the northern regions.

We strive to provide the best rehabilitation services based on scientific principles for all groups and their families, fostering a generation capable of communicating and interacting with the wider community.

Mission

Our mission is to improve and enhance the quality of life for children by offering the best services in evaluation, rehabilitation, and therapy. We aim to support and guide children's learning potential by providing a stimulating environment tailored to their needs and appropriate to Palestinian society and culture.
 

About the center

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders Diagnosis and Treatment Center, specializes in diagnosing and treating a range of speech, language, swallowing, and hearing disorders. It is licensed by the Palestinian Ministry of Health and adheres to the diagnostic and treatment standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Additionally, the supervisors hold clinical competence certification from ASHA.

Objectives of the Speech, Language, and Hearing Disorders Center

The center is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for individuals of all ages facing communication and hearing challenges. With a focus on accurate diagnosis, tailored treatment, and advanced technology, the center aims to improve speech, language, and auditory functions. Through early detection, personalized intervention strategies, and ongoing support, the center strives to enhance the quality of life and communication abilities of every individual, empowering them to thrive in their daily interactions and activities.

Diagnosis and Assessment

The center provides precise diagnostic services for speech, language, and hearing disorders. These services include detailed assessments to determine the type and severity of communication or hearing impairments across all age groups.

Treatment and Intervention

Individualized treatment plans are designed to address specific needs using evidence-based methods. Services include speech and language therapy, dysphagia management, and audiological care such as hearing aid fittings, cochlear implants, and hearing rehabilitation.

Hearing Assessment and Technology

Comprehensive hearing assessments are conducted using advanced techniques. The center offers hearing aid fittings, and custom devices like BTE and ITE aids, and ensures maintenance and replacement of hearing accessories to meet individual needs.

Early Detection and Pediatric Services

Specializing in early detection, the center identifies developmental delays or disorders in children. Early intervention programs aim to enhance communication skills and promote better long-term developmental outcomes.
