What will I learn

As a student in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences program at the Arab American University, you will learn to assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders across different age groups. You will gain knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience related to speech, language, swallowing and hearing. The program covers speech and language development, hearing loss and audiological rehabilitation, voice and swallowing disorders, and treatment principles and approaches as well as augmentative and alternative communication methods. You will also learn about cultural and linguistic diversity in communication disorders and develop strong critical thinking and clinical skills.

Clinical internships at affiliated hospitals and clinics will give you the opportunity to work with patients under professional supervision. This comprehensive approach ensures that you are well-prepared for a career in the field of speech-language pathology and audiology.
