About Program

Overview

The Bachelor's program in Sustainable Development and Technology aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand the interaction between sustainable development and technology and qualify them to deal with the challenges facing societies and the environment by integrating the main concepts and foundations of sustainable development with modern technologies, innovations as well as new technological transformations.

The program consists of a variety of courses, including the principles of sustainable development, spatial justice, crisis management and development, the foundations of database design, mobile applications, artificial intelligence in addition to other theoretical courses in development and practical courses in technology. These courses will in total work in depth to enable the student to understand and analyze the close relationship between development in its comprehensive concept as a process and modern technologies as tools. They will also reflect the students’ understanding on the development of the society and its environment. Based on this understanding, the student will be able to explore innovative technological solutions that contribute to solving problems and achieving sustainable development. This will be followed by case studies and analysis in the context of the balance between technological development and the preservation of natural resources from the Palestinian, regional and international reality.

This program provides the student with the opportunity to acquire critical thinking skills, advanced thinking based on providing sustainable and creative solutions, and interaction with the social, economic and environmental aspects of development. The graduate will be able to deal with complex challenges that arise as a result of technological development, and work on developing new technologies that contribute to achieving sustainable development in various fields.

To graduate distinguished and specialized professionals who meet global standards and align with the needs of the labor market, and to actively participate in development through the application of spatial studies. The program aims for its graduates to successfully compete with graduates from international universities and to position the department as the preferred destination for companies and institutions seeking specialists in development through technology.

Mission

The Department of Development and Technology integrates developmental thinking with technology by applying effective teaching strategies and active learning. The department also equips its students with specialized technological and developmental knowledge, enabling them to work in various fields and pursue postgraduate studies at local and international universities. Additionally, the department focuses on developing students' general skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking, effective communication, and more. The department is committed to fostering high values in students, particularly in accordance with the teachings of Islam, love for the homeland, belief in Arab unity, and more. It also strives to cultivate positive attitudes in students, especially in areas such as tolerance, acceptance of others' opinions, and collaborative work.

Connecting contemporary technology skills, including programming, with the requirements of sustainable development in a rapidly changing world.

Developing Developmental Databases

Developing quantitative and qualitative developmental databases using smart programming and web design, which can be utilized for scientific research and making administrative and developmental decisions.

Utilizing Artificial Intelligence Techniques

Leveraging artificial intelligence techniques for sustainable development, e-government, and e-management in the context of smart automation.

Implementing Sustainable Development Plans

Executing partial and comprehensive developmental plans and strategies in sustainable development, particularly in serving marginalized groups and impoverished communities.

Training Development Workers

Training workers and actors in the development process, especially in areas targeted by the wall and settlements within the context of Palestinian liberation.

Redefining Developmental Resources

Redefining resources and literature on liberation and emancipatory development to understand the unique circumstances of the Palestinian case, which suffers from occupation and fragmentation.

Strengthening Community Resilience

Enhancing the resilience of people and local communities, especially in the Jordan Valley and settlement areas, by supporting revivalist development projects.

Building Sustainable Development Teams

Building sustainable development teams to propose solutions and alternatives composed of the public sector, private sector, civil society, universities, and development experts.

Creating a Human Rights-Based Development Framework

Creating a serious developmental framework based on the philosophy of human rights, with the involvement of women and developmental media, within the context of a smart matrix.

Building Collective Development Initiatives

Establishing collective development initiatives that benefit from charity work, volunteerism, social responsibility, and modern management.
