In a recent study by the Poll Center in Arab American University that included both genders equally of over 18 years old, in the period between Feb. 10th, 2021 – Feb. 16th, 2021 on a random sample of 1122 participants (60% from the West Bank and 40% from Gaza), participants were asked about the political and electoral situations in Palestine.

Participants were asked about their evaluation to some cases that the Palestinian Authority needs to take into consideration before restoring the relations with the Americans, and the topics included:

On its 20th Anniversary, AAUP and under a Joint Partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Organizes a Marathon "To Support Massafer Yatta Case"

Under a joint partnership between Arab American University, the Ministry of Education and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Arab American University organized a marathon in Hebron entitled “Supporting Massafer Yatta”.

The 3 Kilometers-marathon start point was from the space between Massafer Yatta and its Bedouin area heading to Massafer Yatta High School. 200 students from the elementary and middle levels participated in the marathon.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Yousef Asfour and Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President while honoring the Head of the Anti-Corruption Commission, Mr. Ra’id Radwa.

Arab American University represented by Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, and the Anti-Corruption Commission represented by Mr. Ra’id Radwan- the Head of the Commission signed a joint collaboration agreement that also included a continuous in providing and teaching anti-corruption courses. 

The signing event took place in AAUP- Ramallah Campus where Dr. Yousef Asfour- the Chairman of the Board of Directors and other representatives of both organizations witnessed the event.

Mr. Ra’id Radwan said that the Commission is seeking to enhance the collaboration with the different colleges and universities in Palestine to instill the values of integrity and transparency in students. He mentioned that this MoU reflects the interests of the commission in inserting university students in the anti-corruption system and raise their awareness in the risks of corruption in order to prevent them from doing any wrong actions during their practical and professional lives.

The Continuing Education Center in Arab American University organized a ceremony that was attended by Dr. Khalid Atyeh- the Head of the Continuing Education Center. The ceremony was to graduate 15 participants who participated in two courses one was about Alshamel Accounting Software and the other is in IELTS Preparation.

Dr. Atyeh- the Head of the Education Center started the ceremony by welcoming the guests and congratulating the participants in both courses. He ensured that the center will always seek to organize many useful courses to qualify university students and prepare them to the labor market, and to improve the local community and develop it.

On the Occasion of its 20th Anniversary, AAUP Gifts some Laptops to a Group of its Honor-list Students

As a generous gesture, a group of businessmen from inside the green-line and the Suburb of University Real Estate Company in Jenin donated some laptops to Arab American University to be gifted to some of the honor-list students who face problems in the e-learning.

This was during a ceremony attended by Dr. Iyad Dalbah- the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs, the businessmen and the honored students.

Researcher Ibrahim Sabbah from the Health Informatics Graduate Program in Arab American University defended his thesis that was supervised by Prof. Mohammad Awad and Dr. Shahinaz Najjar. In his thesis that was entitled “Clinical Characteristics of the Hospitalized COVID-19 Patients in Palestine” Ibrahim used the (descriptive analytical approach using artificial intelligence methods), and he classified the COVID-19 patients in terms of risk, using statistical methods and artificial intelligence algorithms.

This study is the first of its kind in Palestine, and the third globally that used the artificial intelligence algorithms to predict future patient status and behavior, and this will in turn help in serving the medical sector in Palestine to prepare for what is coming, from the strategic planning to resources distribution to increasing the capacity of hospitals and health facilities according to the health status of patients and their medical needs.

Course Entitled “Introduction to Scientific Journalism”

The Faculty of Modern Media in Arab American University and under collaboration with Al Jazeera Media Institute concluded a free-of-charge training course entitled “Introduction to Scientific Journalism”

The course, which was lectured by Mr. Mohammad Ahdad- the journalist in Al Jazeera Media Institute, targeted 15 journalists working in the Palestinian Media Organizations, in addition to other people who are interested in the Scientific Journalism field.  

Dr. Hanadi Dwaikat- the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Media thanked journalist Mr. Mohammad Ahdad and Al Jazeera Media Institute for the great welcoming from their side to organize this course especially during the COVID-19 situation. She said that the number of students and media workers who were interested in this course reflected the needs of the news community in Palestine, especially because the pandemic has revealed that the Palestinian press and media organizations are in severe need to such specialized press.

The Faculty of Law in AAUP Receives a Delegation from the Red Crescent to Discuss Joint Collaboration

Dr. Riziq Samoudi- the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Dr. Saeed Abu Farah- a Lecturer in the Faculty specialized in the International Humanitarian Law received a delegation from the Palestinian Red Crescent that included Mr. Riziq Shuqair and Mr. Marwan Jitani who visited the Faculty of Law in Arab American University to discuss means of joint collaboration in many fields.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the possibilities and capabilities of organizing a joint conference about International Humanitarian Law, and the idea of adding an International Humanitarian Law course for Law students in specific and the university students as well. Moreover, they agreed to sign MoU soon that should contain articles on starting joint programs between the university and the Red Crescent.

In a Recent Survey Study by the Poll Center in AAUP: 65% of the Palestinian People Think that the Upcoming Legislative and Presidential Elections will be on Time, and 71% will Participate in it

In the recent study prepared by the poll center in Arab American University about the current political and election situation in the country, the results showed that 65% of Palestinians believe that the upcoming legislative and presidential elections will be on its decided time, and 71% of them decided to participate in the elections.

The study included both genders equally of 18 years old and older, and the data was collected between Feb. 10th, 2021 and Feb. 16th, 2021 on a random sample of 1122 of (60% from the West Bank and 40% from Gaza).

Hassib Sabbagh IT Center in AAUP Concludes the Training Course under Collaboration with Otermans British Institution

Hassib Sabbagh IT Center for Excellence in Arab American University and under joint partnership with Otermans British Organization, Bethlehem Development Organization, CCC and the Pakistani Organization of Aljadid Manpower Services concluded a training funded course of “personal and occupational skills between youth in Palestine” that targeted the Palestinian graduates and pioneers from the Palestinian community.

The training was provided by a specialized staff from Otermans organization in London in addition to some other trainers from British Universities such as: University of Cambridge, University of Birmingham, Brunel University London, etc.

The training course focused on developing the practical skills in students in order to be able to prepare work reports in English, the right planning for projects, the modern ways in leading and working in teams, and prepare students to have their personal goals to get a position.
