The Ambassador of the Embassy of India gifting a book about the life of Gandhi to AAUP

Under collaboration with the Embassy of India in Palestine and on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Indian Lawyer- Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center in Arab American University- Ramallah Campus has organized a seminar.

Mrs. Rula Shahwan- the Manager of the Policy and Conflict Resolution Studies Center opened the seminar that was attended by H.E. Mr. Sunil Kumar – the Ambassador of the Embassy of India in Palestine. Mrs. Shahwan started her speech by introducing the center and its goals to ease the access to academic knowledge for students, academics and researchers and to conduct political researches and papers to support politicians and Palestinian decision makers.

AAUP celebration in its 20th anniversary

In a virtual ceremony and while lighting its buildings in both Jenin and Ramallah campuses, Arab American University announced the beginning of its celebrations on the occasion of its 20th anniversary, along with projecting a film about the development of the university in the academic, researches and structural fields.

Prof. Ali Ziedan Abu Zuhri- the University President in his speech at the ceremony said: “We now virtually celebrating the 20th anniversary of our university due to COVID-19. This pandemic showed the world the importance of education to serve humanity, and this was and still is a base in our university as it aims to be an academic edifice to serve the community and fulfill its needs. Arab American University has succeeded to guarantee the continuity of the educational process during emergency circumstances and proved its capability to create new ways to keep the value of its mission.”

The Scientific day via Zoom about “The Impact of COVID-19 on the Psychological Health”

With the participation of psychological and educational researchers from Palestine, Syria, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria, Arab American University organized a scientific day through Zoom entitled “The Impact of COVID-19 on the Psychological Health”

Dr. Layla Herzallah- the Mental and Educational Health Consultant in AAUP moderated the scientific day sessions.

The first session started with a presentation of a scientific paper entitled “The Psychological, Social and Educational Implications of COVID-19 and the Best Ways to Deal with it” by Prof. Mohammad Shaheen form Al-Quds Open University. 

Dr. Marsalina Hassan from Syria talked about the grief and mourning that the families who suffer from COVID-19 feel, and how it affects their psychological health.

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology in Arab American University organized a workshop for the 5th edition of TESLA project that aims to develop learning tools

This project is funded by the European Union and Erasmus+ with the participation of Arab American University, Istiqlal University, Polytechnic University, Al-Quds Open University, Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, University of Patras in Greece and University Politehnica of Bucharest in Romania.

With the participation of speakers from Jordan, Egypt and Palestine, The Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences in Arab American University organized an online seminar via Zoom about the reality of the Islamic finance in Arab and Islamic world between theory and practice.

At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Mohammed AbuSharbeh- the Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences welcomed the participants and started talking about the development and spreading of the Islamic banks around the world after the financial crisis of 2008. He presented the noticeable growth in the Islamic banks assets that reached 2.2 trillion $ at the end of 2019.

In a ceremony attended by Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President, Dr. Mo’ayad Abu Saa’- the VP for Academic Affairs, Eng. Bara’ Asfour- the Assistant to the President along with other faculty members and staff, Arab American University honored some of its excellent researchers who had their researches published in an ISI classified scientific journal and some excellent and hardworking academics and administrators.     

Prof. Abu Zuhri welcomed the audience and congratulated the researchers, academics and administrators on their excellence in their researches and work. He assured that this honoring is part of AAUP philosophy in appreciating the efforts of its staff and in encouraging others to positive competition to increase work creativity in the university environment.

Part of the signing of the agreement

Arab American University represented by Eng. Bara Asfour- the Assistant to the President of AAUP and the Palestinian Telecommunications Company (PALTEL) represented by Mr. Muath Habboub- the Head of the Sales Department in PALTEL signed a cooperation agreement between both parties, with the presence of Mr. Mohammad Mas’ad- the Administrative Affairs Manager in AAUP.

Eng. Asfour- the Assistant to the President of AAUP assured that such agreements between the university and the different Palestinian organizations are of great importance to serve the educational process and the local community.

PALTEL representative, Mr. Muath Habboub praised the role of AAUP as one of the most prominent edifice in Jenin that all Palestinians are proud of.

An inspection tour to see the level of accomplishment that Ibn Sina hospital “the educational hospital for the Faculty of Medicine in AAUP” reached

Aiming to monitor the level of accomplishment that the hospital has reached, Mr. Akram Rjoub- Jenin Governor, Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and the accompanied delegation of the vice presidents, the assistants to president, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Salem Abu Khayzran- the Head of the Board of Directors of Istishari Arab Hospital went in an inspection tour to Ibn Sina Specialized Hospital “the educational hospital for the Faculty of Medicine in Arab American University”.

The opening of “Ibn Sina Hospital” will be in order to provide training serves to AAUP students of the Faculty of Medicine in specific, and all students in all medical and healthcare faculties in general.

Prof. Abu Zuhri- the University President expressed how proud he is to see such an edifice in Jenin as Ibn Sina Hospital will be the educational hospital for AAUP students of the Faculty of Medicine. He assured that this cooperation and having a place for students to train in will contribute in graduating efficient doctors to work in the Palestinian labor market.

A Study by the Research and Poll Center in AAUP : 74%  of the Palestinians Believe that Imposing Fines and Penalties will Help in Obligating Citizens to Respect COVID-19 Safety Measures

* 63% of the Palestinians approve that fines and sanctions should be obligated on all citizens to wearing masks and gloves.

* 74% of the Palestinians believe that financial penalties will help in obligating citizens to wearing masks and gloves in open places and to keep social distancing with others.

 * 54% of the Palestinians think that the security agencies do not implement these violations.

Researcher Basem Mohammad Qasim Abu AlRub, a student in the Master in Health informatics in the Faculty of Graduate Studies

Researcher Basem Mohammad Abu AlRub, a student in the Master in Health Informatics in the Faculty of Graduate Studies in Ramallah discussed his master’s thesis entitled “Estimating the Data Flow among Cancer Healthcare Providers in Palestine: Redesigning the Health informatics Model for Recording Cancer Cases”.

In his thesis research, the researcher focused on the records of cancer cases which collect data of cancer to monitor epidemic incidents, and he explained the data flow process indicating that the final goal of data flow is to improve the organizational efficiency in the cancer data records in Palestine.
