A Team of AAUP Publishes a Research Article on Conducting Digital Forensic Analysis in WhatsApp

The student researcher Yaman Munthir Salim, Dr. Majdi Owda, and Dr. Amani Owda from the Natural, Engineering and Technological Sciences Department in the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University published a research paper in the “International Journal of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics”. The research paper is entitled

“An Experimental Approach for Locating WhatsApp Digital Forensics Artefacts on Windows 10 and the Cloud”.

The study aimed to conduct digital forensic analysis in the WhatsApp application, which is widely used by users legally sometimes and illegally at other times fields. It may also be used as a means of committing electronic crimes such as electronic espionage or data leakage and privacy penetration.

The research provides a guide for the digital investigator on how to deal with extracting important evidence from the WhatsApp application, which is valuable to help find suspects in cybercrimes.

AAUP Hosts the Palestine Science and Technology Fair for Birzeit Schools

The Arab American University in Ramallah hosted the activities of the Palestine Science and Technology Fair, which was organized by the Directorate of Education of Birzeit Schools.

The Palestine Science and Technology Exhibition is a global exhibition supported by Intel. The competition initially takes place at the level of education directorates with engineering and research projects from school students in grades 9-11. It aims to develop thinking outside the box and develop creative skills. At the end, a number of projects are selected through arbitration by specialists, with the aim of representing the directorates in the local competition at the national level, and then at the global level.

AAUP Visits the Nahf Local Council and Organizes an Open Day for a Number of Schools in the Palestinian Occupied Lands

The offices of the Arab American University in the Palestinian occupied lands organized an open day for a number of schools at home. In this activity, they presented academic programs in the BA degree in Jenin and Ramallah campuses. They discussed the horizon of joint cooperation with the local council in Nahf in the occupied lands.

The university delegation consisted of Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Eng. Bara Asfour, Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Dean of Admission and Registration, Dr. Rami Hodrob, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Amro, General Manager of the Arab American University Company, Prof. Faleh Abu Arra, and Director of the University Offices in the Palestinian interior, Mr. Anan Al-Deek.

A Delegation from Jenin Governorate Visits the Arab American University

A delegation from the Jenin governorate visited the Arab American University to get acquainted with the University Medical Rehabilitation Complex at the university. They were received by the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Mohammad Amro, Deputy Dean, Dr. Mohammad Al-Jamal, Heads of Departments in the Faculty, and the social worker at the university, Dr. Laila Herzallah.

The visiting delegation consisted of the assistant governor of Jenin, Mr. Jihad Al-Taher, the director of public relations in the governorate, Ms. Sana Al-Badawi, the official of the social committee, Ms. Abeer Jarrar, and the employee in the governorate, Sawsan Mahajna.

AAUP Library Participates in the Cairo International Book Fair

The Arab American University Library participated in the Cairo International Book Fair from 1/27/2023 to 2/2/2023, which was held in Cairo. The university is represented by Mr. Hasan Al-Said, Director of the University Library. Many participating Arab and foreign publishing houses were present in the gallery.

A group of Arabic and foreign books that serve the educational and research process at the university were selected, especially the newly launched disciplines at the university. They were reinforced with modern supporting books and references for these disciplines. We have also obtained a set of valuable donations from the publications of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development and a free electronic database of journals in the organization, especially human resources and management and economic journals in general.

The Faculty of Dentistry at the Arab American University Officially Receives the International ADEE Leader Accreditation

The Arab American University has officially and finally received the International ADEE LEADER Accreditation Report for the Faculty of Dentistry, by MAC International Consulting, in addition to receiving the official and accredited logo. Thus, it is the first university in Palestine and the second in the region after the American University of Beirut.

This took place during a visit by representatives of the MAC International Consulting Company, Dr. Nibal Sabri and Eng. Yasmine Abu Bakr. They were received by the Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Mohammad Jaradat, Director of the Office of Quality Development at the University, Eng. Ahmed Fouad, and the ADEE Staff at the Faculty of Dentistry.

Saed Hanani, the student at the Faculty of Engineering

Saed Hanani, the student at the Faculty of Engineering at the Arab American University won the Medal of Creativity and Excellence at the level of individuals in the Inspirational 3 competition held in the United Arab Emirates - Dubai, after several stages in which participants from several Arab countries competed, including inventors, researchers, and change-makers.

The Inspiring Award aims to promote concepts of innovation and creative and pioneering ideas that provide effective solutions to improve the image of institutional and community services and thus enhance human building at all levels for a promising future for future generations. It also aims to shed light on innovative and creative institutions and inspiring individuals in the Arab world.

Part of the "Digital Security" Conference

The Faculty of Modern Media at the Arab American University, in partnership with Hamla, the Arab Centre for the Development of Social Media, organized a conference about digital security under the title "Privacy in the Age of Surveillance". The conference was attended by male and female academics from Media Faculties in six Palestinian universities, in addition to male and female journalists, experts, specialists, and female specialists in digital media. The conference was held on the university campus in the city of Ramallah.

The activities of the conference were inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Media at the University, Dr. Hanadi Dwikat. In her statement, she welcomed the attendees. She referred to the importance of the topic of the conference, which includes a group of Palestinian Universities and Media Departments. She also appreciated the partnership with the Hamla Centre, considering that this partnership was built on hard work, planning, thinking, and working as one team.

A student team from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University, called ShatlhAR, won the second place in the IEEE Pioneers 2.0 competition in its second version. The team included the students Abdulrahman Barham, Christine Abu Zalof, and Abdullah Odeh. The team also qualified to participate in the competition at the Middle East level. 18 teams representing several Palestinian universities from the West Bank and Gaza competed. The competition was held in the Palestinian-Indian Technology Park.

It is noteworthy that IEEE Pioneers is a competition within Entrepreneurship Week launched by the International Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). It aims to raise the local community’s awareness of the importance of entrepreneurship. It also aims to support pioneering and creative projects, in addition to qualifying and developing the participants’ skills and technological capabilities that are necessary for preparing projects to suit the requirements of the labour market in light of the global changes in the field of technology and artificial intelligence.

A Delegation from the Robotel Canadian Company Visits the Language Centre at AAUP to Discuss Cooperation

A delegation from the Robotel Canadian Company visited the Language Centre at the Arab American University to discuss the mechanism of cooperation and conclude an agreement regarding the services provided by the Company in the field of electronic support through digital technology, virtual reality, and the Smart Plus program.

The delegation consisted of the CEO of the Company in Canada, Yank Demers, the Executive Director of the Purpose Company in Palestine, Mr. Lutfi Abu Salim, and the Programs Director at the Purpose Company, Ms. Maram Hamdan.

The delegation was received by the Director of the Language Centre, Mr. Hasan Kamail, the Assistant Director of the Language Centre, Ms. Areej Shalbak, and the Laboratory Technician, Mr. Mohammed Ighbariya.
