The Conflict Studies Research Center at the Arab American University Holds a Training Workshop for Graduate Students

The Conflict Studies Research Center at the Arab American University in Ramallah has held a training workshop on writing research papers, in which a group of students from the Faculty of Graduate Studies participated. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Nahid Habiballah in cooperation with Dr. Lana Shehadeh.

This workshop is the beginning of a series of seminars and training workshops that the Center plans to hold in the near future.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Adult Nursing Program by Murad Jaghlab

Researcher Murad Jagalab, a student in the master’s program in adult nursing, defended his thesis titled: “The Impact of an Educational Program on Intensive Care Nurses’ Awareness and Practice of Risk and Prevention Factors for keratopathy in Unconscious Patients Connected to a Ventilator in Palestine.”

This study aims to evaluate the impact of an educational program on eye care on the awareness and practices of nurses working in intensive care regarding risk factors and prevention of keratopathy among ventilated and unconscious patients.

Visual complications in patients within the ICU may often go unreported, leading to potentially serious effects such as keratopathy resulting from exposure to the external environment. To reduce these risks, it is important to promptly recognize and prevent these problems and educate ICU nurses about them.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Emergency Nursing Program by Jawaher Salah

Researcher Jawaher Salah, a student in the master’s program in emergency nursing, defended her thesis titled: “Perceptions of Nursing Students in Palestinian Universities of The Impact of Covid-19 Pandemic on their Practical Training.”

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the practical training of nursing students in Palestinian universities from their point of view. The researcher relied on the descriptive approach by distributing questionnaires to a cross-sectional sample of 93 students.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Integrated Digital Media Program by Lara Khamash

Researcher Lara Khamash, a student in the Master’s program in Integrated Digital Media, defended her thesis titled: “Visual Narratives in Advocacy Films: Cases from Palestine and Around the World.”

The study delves into exploring cinematic storytelling from different angles. It also highlights the unique role that films play in promoting the rights and representation of marginalized groups in Palestine and around the world by analyzing five films. The research examines how films can be used as a means of change by influencing audiences through different representations of these groups.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in Computed Tomography and MRI Sciences Program by Mohammad AbdalGhani

Researcher Mohammad AbdalGhani, a student in the master’s program in computed tomography and MRI sciences, defended his thesis titled: “Magnetic Resonance Evaluation of Vestibulocochlear Nerve Diseases Diagnosed by Videonystagmus and Audiograms.”

The research aims to study the role of MRI in diagnosing vestibular and auditory disorders, and to compare MRI with a positive vestibular and auditory function test. In addition, the research aims at determining the image quality of the MRI sequences used by assessing the image quality, including the signal-to-noise ratio and contrast-to-noise ratio as well as drawing a comparison between the different sequences.

Researcher Khitam Dar Al-Deek, a student in the Master’s program in Quality Management in Health Institutions, defended her thesis titled: “Exploring the Role of Trust as a Mediating Factor between Patient Satisfaction and Quality of Health Care.”

The research aims to understand how trust in health service providers, especially doctors and nurses, acts as a mediator that affects the relationship between patient satisfaction and the joint quality of health care services among patients residing in the internal medicine ward in three governmental hospitals in the West Bank, Palestine.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Innovation in Education Program by Student Rola Tafesh

Researcher Rula Tafesh, a student in the Master’s Program in Innovation in Education, defended her thesis titled: “The Effectiveness of an Educational Program Based on Educational Games in Improving Attention and Perception among Students with Learning Difficulties.”

The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of an educational program based on popular games in improving attention and perception among students with learning difficulties. To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used the experimental method with an experimental design. The researcher employed two instruments: the first was the part related to attention and perception, and the second was the program based on popular educational games. The program consisted of 10 sessions.

The Arab American University Discusses Prospects for Enhancing Cooperation in the Human Rights Program with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar

The Director of the Department of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Dr. Ahmad Ashgar met with Dr. Moataz Al-Fajiri, Director of the Human Rights Program at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in the State of Qatar.

The meeting focused on discussing ways of enhancing academic and research cooperation in areas related to academic programs and courses associated with human rights and recent international experiences within the framework of the quality of academic education, especially in the Administrative Law and Constitutional System Program and the Criminal Sciences Program at the Arab American University.

Researcher Malak Shehadeh, a student in the Master’s program in Applied Islamic Finance, defended her thesis titled: “Sharia Supervision Governance in Islamic Banks as Perceived by the Banks’ Senior Management.”

The study aimed to identify the governance of Sharia supervision in Islamic banks as perceived by the banks’ senior management. This is to ensure that Islamic banks continue to adhere to honesty and legality in their activities and transactions, which achieves remarkable success for them in all profitability rates and in all fields.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis in the Intensive Care Nursing Program by Student Sabrina Shalaot

Researcher Sabrina Shalaot, a student in the master’s program in intensive care nursing, has defended her thesis titled: “A Cross-Sectional Study for Evaluating Intensive Care Unit Nurses’ Knowledge of the ABDCEF Package in Governmental Hospitals in the Palestinian Territory.”

This study aims to evaluate the level of intensive care nurses’ knowledge of the ABCDEF package in addition to its effectiveness in preventing delirium. This package includes: pain assessment and management (A), spontaneous awakening and breathing attempts (B), anesthesia selection (C), delirium monitoring and management (D), early movement/mobility (E), and family participation (F).
