M.A. Thesis Predicting Electrical Loads Using Machine Learning Algorithms

Mubarak Abu Mohsen, a researcher in the Master's program in Data Science and Business analysis, published a research paper titled "Predicting Electrical Loads Using Machine Learning Algorithms for Energy System in Palestine" in the Q1-rated journal (Energies).

The student has previously defended his thesis, which is the first in its field in Palestine, where it aimed to build an accurate, reliable model for predicting electrical loads using deep learning algorithms (LSTM, GRU and RNN), based on factual data obtained from the Tubas Electricity Company.

Defense of A PhD Dissertation by Ghassan Thouqan in Educational Administration

Student Ghassan Thouqan defended his Ph.D dissertation entitled: "Organizational Justice as a Mediating Factor between Transformational Leadership and the Quality of Administrative Decisions among the Directors of Academic Departments in Palestinian Universities and a Proposed Development Strategy" to obtain the Ph.D. in Educational Administration.

The study aimed to identify the verity of organizational justice, transformational leadership, and the quality of administrative decisions among the directors of academic departments in Palestinian universities from the perspectives of faculty members as well as the role of organizational justice as a mediating factor between transformational leadership and the quality of administrative decisions. Moreover, the study aimed to identify the impact of several variables on organizational justice, transformational leadership, and the quality of administrative decisions.

Researcher Bara Asfour Defends His Ph.D. Dissertation in Business

Researcher Bara Asfour, a student in the program of Ph.D. in Business, joint with Indiana University of Pennsylvania, defended his dissertation entitled: "The Relationship between Administrative Commitment, Psychological Empowerment, and Job Performance among Employees of Higher Education Institutions in Palestine (the West Bank)."

The research aimed at evaluating the relationship among the three fields of study: administrative commitment, psychological empowerment, and job performance at Palestinian universities in the West Bank. The data of the study was collected from a sample of 665 academics from a number of public and private universities using a questionnaire consisted of a measurement of administrative commitment, and an instrument for psychological empowerment and individual work performance.

Defense of A Doctoral Dissertation by Raed Awada in Educational Administration

The Ph.D. researcher in the program of Educational Administration, Raed Awada, defended his dissertation which is entitled "A Proposed Model for Building a Creative Organizational Culture and Applying an Electronic Educational Space According to the Needs of the Twenty-First Century in Basic Schools of Jerusalem Governorate". The dissertation was supervised by Prof. Dr. Tayseer Abdullah, and Dr. Kamel Hashem.

The study sought to provide a highly efficient model for building a creative organizational culture and applying an electronic educational space according to the needs of the twenty-first century among the principals of basic schools in Jerusalem Governorate, in addition to reveal whether there are differences in building a creative organizational culture and applying an electronic educational space according to several variables.

Defense of A Doctoral Dissertation by Fatima Ghannam in the Program of Educational Administration

The Ph.D. researcher in the Educational Administration program, Fatima Ishtayeh Ghannam, defended her thesis which is entitled: "The Relationship between Organizational Loyalty and the Change Leadership among Palestinian School Principals: the Skill of Decision-Making as a Mediating Variable - A Proposed Model."

The study aimed at revealing the relationship between organizational loyalty and the leadership of change among all Palestinian school principals in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate, employing the descriptive-correlational approach.

AAUP Offers the First Ph.D. Program of Its Kind in Palestine in “Public Relations, Communication, and Media”

Ramallah: The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University launched the first Ph.D. program of its kind in Palestine in Public Relations, Communication, and Media in partnership with the Ecole de journalism (ESJ) in Paris.

The program, which will be offered in the academic year 2023/2024, targets holders of an M.A. degree in all humanitarian disciplines, in addition to those working in the field of Media and Public Relations.

The applicant for the Ph.D. program in Public Relations, Communication, and Media is required to have an M.A. degree with at least a "very good" standing or its equivalent, a B.A. degree with at least a "good" standing or its equivalent according to the regular study system, and to pass a personal interview and an English language exam.

An AAUP Researcher at the Faculty of Graduate Studies Develops A Specialized Criminal Investigation System for Apple Watch

The researcher Mohammad Dawood, an M.A student in Cybercrimes and Digital Evidence Analysis program at the Arab American University in Ramallah, developed a specialized system in criminal investigation for Apple Watch by establishing a criminal digital investigation matrix.

The researcher Dawood explained that the system, which he developed, helps investigators deal with Apple Watch by collecting digital evidence quickly. This, according to the researcher, contributes to uncovering the details of crimes, and succeeds in producing reliable reports from the Watch before the legal authorities.

He added that the subject of his M.A thesis is novel as it provides an integrated matrix specialized in dealing with Apple Watch at crime scenes.

Defence of an M.A Thesis in Data Science and Business Analysis about the Role of Deep Machine Learning in the Detection and Classification of Heart Diseases

An MA student in the field of data science and business analysis at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University, Abdulhakeem Ahmed Al-Ardah, passed the defence of his thesis for obtaining the M.A degree. The thesis is entitled “Heart Disease Prediction & Disease Type Classification Using Machine Learning”

The thesis relied on merging heart disease databases, and an accurate and effective machine learning system to obtain high classification accuracy. The proposed research method included an initial stage to predict the existence of heart disease, followed by a smart classification to determine the type of heart disease using machine learning. The classification of the disease depends on the results in the initial stage.

Defence of an M.A Thesis in Data Science and Business Analysis on Classification of Skin Cancer Using Deep Learning Techniques

The student Hilal Abdel Raouf Assaf, a student of data science and business analysis at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University, passed the discussion of his MA Thesis. The thesis is entitled:

 “Skin Cancer Classification Using Deep Learning Techniques”.

In his thesis, the researcher dealt with skin cancer through a global database. He could build a system that classifies skin tumours into malignant and benign tumours with high accuracy through the use of improved deep learning techniques.

His thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Awad, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Arab American University.

A Team of AAUP Publishes a Research Article on Conducting Digital Forensic Analysis in WhatsApp

The student researcher Yaman Munthir Salim, Dr. Majdi Owda, and Dr. Amani Owda from the Natural, Engineering and Technological Sciences Department in the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University published a research paper in the “International Journal of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics”. The research paper is entitled

“An Experimental Approach for Locating WhatsApp Digital Forensics Artefacts on Windows 10 and the Cloud”.

The study aimed to conduct digital forensic analysis in the WhatsApp application, which is widely used by users legally sometimes and illegally at other times fields. It may also be used as a means of committing electronic crimes such as electronic espionage or data leakage and privacy penetration.

The research provides a guide for the digital investigator on how to deal with extracting important evidence from the WhatsApp application, which is valuable to help find suspects in cybercrimes.
