The Deanship of Student Affairs in AAUP Graduates Students who Participated in the Anti-drug Training Course

The Deanship of Student Affairs in Arab American University and under collaboration with the anti-drug police in Jenin organized a training course of 21 hours for AAUP students, as the training also covered some field visits to the Police Departments and laboratories in the anti-drug department. The Deanship graduated students who participated in this training course.

In his speech, Dr. Bashar Daraghmeh- the Dean of Student Affairs welcomed the guests and emphasized that AAUP always tries to raise awareness between students and the local community and guide them about the risks of drugs and how to prevent themselves from it. He also said that AAUP is keen to protect its students by offering such awareness courses and meetings.

AAUP and Strategy Directives International Sign MoU to Develop Students’ Skills

Arab American University and Strategy Directives International which is a company specialized in Education Technology signed MoU that aims to enable students and equip them with 21st century skills that are highly required and needed in the labor market.

This MoU comes as part of the initiative “Empowering Youth” that was launched by Strategy Directives, and the initiative works by evaluating the behavior skills and personal prosperities in students using Maharatkom platform. This evaluation is a psychometric one in the form of an interactive test online that depends on artificial intelligence, and the reports will be applied in the courses and programs available on the education platforms online like Edrak platform in order to determine the needs of the training and to develop the required skills.

Sports Facilities in AAUP Graduates a Swimming Course - Beginner Level for Ladies

The Sports Facilities Department in Arab American University graduated a 12-hour swimming course – beginner level for ladies, for a group of female staff of AAUP and some other ladies from the local community.

Dr. Oudai Daraghmeh- the Sports Facilities Manager, Mr. Fadi Jumaa- the Public Relations manager and both trainers Ms. Raghad Bazari and Ms. Maha Awad attended the graduation.

The course was organized in the University’s half-Olympic swimming pool and included trainings to overcome fear and then learning the basic skills for swimming.

AAUP and the Palestinian Football Association Discuss the Hosting of "Al Quds and Al Karameh" Championship in the University's International Stadium

Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and his Assistant Eng. Bara Asfour discussed the possibility to host “Al Quds and Al Karameh” Championship in the University’s International Stadium with Mr. Firas Abu Hilal- the Secretary General of the Palestinian Football Association and Mr. Ali Jebril- the Head of the Competitions in the Association. This championship will give the opportunity to Palestinian and Jordanian teams to participate in.

Mr. Firas Abu Hilal- the Secretary General of the Palestinian Football Association explained that this championship is planned to be in March 2022, and that three stadiums in the West Bank was chosen to perform the championship in, and that Arab American University International Stadium is one of those three.

The Governor of the Monetary Authority in a Visit to AAUP

Prof. Ali Zeidan AbuZuhri- Arab American University President welcomed Dr. Firas Mulhem- the Governor of the Monetary Authority who was an honor guest in a symposium in the university organized by the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences entitled “Digital Technology and its Role in the Banking Sector in Palestine”.

The Governor of the Monetary Authority was accompanied by his deputy Mr. Mohammad Manasra, and in their reception was Prof. Ali Abu Zuhri- the University President, Dr. Adli Saleh- the Advisor of the Board of Directors for Planning and Development, Dr. Moayyad Abu Saa- the VP for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mohammad Asia- the VP for the Medical Schools Affairs, Eng. Bara Asfour- the Assistant to the President, Dr. Abdelbasit Rabayaa- the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences and Mr. Fadi Jumaa- the Public Relations Manager.

An Introductory Workshop about Erasmus for AAUP Staff

The Office of the Advisor of the Board to the planning and Developing organized an introductory workshop for all university staff of academics and administrative about Erasmus program to introduce them about the program and how to apply.

The workshop aims to introduce AAUP staff to Erasmus-Capacity Building in Higher Education and encourage them to submit projects among this program, especially that there will be other workshop about other programs of Erasmus.

At the end of the workshop, a work plan was decided in order to discuss and develop some of the ideas that were discussed during the workshop.

AAUP Organizes the Final Ceremony for the Competition of the Best Idea of a Technological Application in the Medical Field "DocTech"

Hassib Sbbagh Center and IEEE- AAUP organized the final ceremony for the best technological application in the medical field DocTech under collaboration with Israa Programming Company and Spark for Consultation and Training.

The ceremony was under the auspices of Prof. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri- the University President and during the ceremony, the three teams which won the first places in the competition were announced knowing that 20 teams from AAUP participated in this competition. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Moayad Abu Saa- the VP for Academic Affairs representing the President, Eng. AAUP Wins the First Three Places in IEEE Pioneers Region 8

After participating in “Pioneersregion 8” contest, Arab American University won the first three places. This contest was organized by IEEE – AAUP branch under collaboration with An Najah National University branch and Birzeit University branch in the Palestinian-Indian Technology Park in Birzeit University which was organized under sponsorship of Jawwal and the Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology.

Dr. Ishaq Seder- the Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Eng. Adnan Samarah- the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Creativity and Excellence and Dr. Muath Sabha from Arab American University attended the final ceremony.

This competition is specialized in Business pioneer and startups and participants must prepare and provide startup ideas that revolve around solving an environmental, social, educational or health problem with the usage of technology and pioneering.

A Scientific Seminar about Financial Inclusion and Fintech

The Finance and Banking Sciences Department in the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences in AAUP and under collaboration with the Palestinian Capital Market Authority organized a scientific seminar entitled “Financial Inclusion and Fintech”

Students from the Finance and Banking Department and some of the Faculty members participated in the meeting, and listened to Dr. Bashar Abu Zaarour- the General Manager in the General Administration in Digital Finance and Innovation Services in the Authority as he explained the concept of the Financial Inclusion and its role in the financial and banking services in Palestine in addition to explaining the importance of the Fintech to the financial inclusion.

An Awareness Course about Information Security and Managing Electronic Accounts

The Information Security and Quality Unit in Arab American University organized an awareness course entitled: “Information Security and Managing Electronic Accounts” in the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences for the Management information System students.

The course contained a presentation about the main goals of the Information Security and Quality Unit and the role it does to protect the data and services in the university.

Eng. Mohammad Owaidat talked about some of the awareness concepts of information security, the hacking problems and account protection possibilities and ways, and warned students that they need to protect their passwords and the ways to develop protected accounts in order to keep them away from being hacked.
