The AAUP Theater Team Concludes its Participation in the International Monodrama Festival in Tunisia

The Arab American University Theater Team has concluded its participation in the International Monodrama Festival in the city of Sidi Bouzid in Tunisia. The team participated in the theatrical performance titled “The Last Sunset,” and the festival had the slogan “Student Letters to Dignified Gaza,” which aims to shed light on deep humanitarian issues and encouraging dialogue and cultural interaction.

Louay Tafish, an employee in the Deanship of Student Affairs at the Arab American University, stated that the theatrical performance “The Last Sunset,” which was produced in cooperation with our partners in the Freedom Theater, is an artistic work that embodies the internal and external conflict facing the Palestinian people under the siege and occupation. The performance also reflects the experience of a character of a young Palestinian woman, living in oppression and persecution, and seeking to build her own world of hope and imagination.

الجامعة وجامعة جلاسكو في المملكة المتحدة توقعان اتفاقية لتعزيز التعاون الطبي

في خطوة هامة، واستمرارا لسعيها لتعزيز التعاون العلمي والأكاديمي مع مؤسسات رائدة داخل فلسطين وخارجها، وقعت الجامعة العربية الأمريكية وجامعة جلاسكو في المملكة المتحدة (University of Glasgow) اتفاقية تعاون بهدف تعزيز التعاون الطبي بين الجامعتين وتدريب طلبة الطب البشري من الجامعة العربية الأمريكية في الحرم الجامعي في المملكة المتحدة.

ووقع الاتفاقية البروفيسور محمد آسيا نائب رئيس الجامعة العربية الأمريكية، وعن جامعة جلاسكو السيدة راشيل سانديسون نائب مستشار الجامعة للتعاون الخارجي ونائب العميد للعلاقات الخارجية. وجرى التوقيع في المملكة المتحدة بحضور الدكتور مالك زبن عميد كلية الطب البشري والدكتور براء عصفور نائب رئيس الجامعة للشؤون المالية والإدارية، والبروفيسور ماثيو واترز عميد كلية الطب وطب الأسنان والتمريض في جامعة جلاسكو.

حرم الجامعة في رام الله يستضيف امتحان مزاولة مهنة المحاماة

استقبلت الجامعة العربية الأمريكية عطوفة نقيب المحامين الفلسطينيين المحامي الأستاذ فادي عباس وأعضاء من مجلس النقابة على هامش عقد امتحان مزاولة مهنة المحاماة الذي استضافته الجامعة في حرمها برام الله.

وكان في استقبال الوفد الأستاذ الدكتور محمد آسيا نائب رئيس الجامعة في حرم رام الله، والدكتور براء عصفور نائب رئيس الجامعة للشؤون المالية والإدارية، والدكتور أحمد الأشقر رئيس قسم العلوم القانونية بكلية الدراسات العليا في الجامعة.

ورحب أ.د. محمد آسيا بنقيب المحامين وأعضاء مجلس النقابة معبّرا عن استعداد الجامعة للتعاون مع النقابة في كافة المجالات وتسخير الامكانات المتاحة لعقد أنشطتها وفعالياتها.

A Training Course is Held for Students of the Historic Building Renovation Course in the Interior Architecture Major

The Department of Architecture and Design at the Faculty of Modern Sciences at the Arab American University in Ramallah has held a training course for students of the Historic Building Renovation course, specializing in Interior Architecture.

The training course, which took place in the Old City of Beit Hanina over two days, aimed to develop the students’ skills in the field of renovation by introducing them to the materials and techniques used. It included a detailed explanation and practical application on how to prepare stone walls for traditional plaster and the mechanism of their application, in addition to Preparing and dealing with the lime slab and lime mixture.

The New School University Hosts the Arab American University Academician and Cartoonist Mohammad Sabaaneh

The New School University has hosted the cartoonist and academician at the Arab American University, Mr. Mohammad Sabaaneh, as part of the “Comics and Picture-Story Week” events held by the Faculty of Arts at The New School University, New York City.

The lecture, which took place via the Zoom platform, touched upon the role of comics in collective memory, as Mr. Sabaaneh presented several experiences from different parts of the world and compared them to his own experience through releasing the first Palestinian comic story published in the United States in 2021 and translated into Italian and French. The lecture also discussed the practices of the occupation within the framework of settler colonialism and how Sabaaneh documented these policies through visual arts.

The Arab American University Holds a Symposium Titled “What’s New in the Current War”

عقدت كلية الآداب والتربية في الجامعة العربية الأمريكية، وبالتعاون مع مجلس الطلبة، ندوة بعنوان "ما الجديد في الحرب الحالية"، حضرها مجموعة من طلبة الجامعة، وقدمها عضو المجلس التشريعي الدكتور جمال حويل، وأستاذ العلوم السياسية في الجامعة الأستاذ الدكتور أيمن يوسف.

وافتتح الندوة، عميد كلية الآداب والتربية الدكتور جمال حنايشة، بكلمة أكد فيها على أهمية محاور الندوة، وأهمية المشاركة الطلابية الكبيرة والفاعلة في كل الأنشطة الرافضة لحرب الإبادة في غزة.

فريق مسرح الجامعة يختتم مشاركته في المهرجان الدولي للمنودراما في تونس

اختتم فريق مسرح الجامعة العربية الأمريكية مشاركته في المهرجان الدولي للمنودراما في مدينة سيدي بوزيد في تونس، حيث كان مشاركته في العرض المسرحي بعنوان "الغروب الأخير"، وحمل المهرجان شعار "رسائل طلابية إلى غزة الأبية"، والذي يهدف إلى تسليط الضوء على القضايا الإنسانية العميقة وتشجيع الحوار والتفاعل الثقافي.

وذكر لؤي طافش الموظف في عمادة شؤون الطلبة في الجامعة العربية الأمريكية أن العرض المسرحي "الغروب الأخير"، والذي أنتج بالتعاون مع شركائنا في مسرح الحرية، هو عمل فني يجسد الصراع الداخلي والخارجي الذي يواجهة الشعب الفلسطيني في ظل الحصار والاحتلال، كما ان العرض يعكس تجربة شخصية لشابة فلسطينية، تعيش تحت ظلال القهر والاضطهاد، وتسعى لبناء عالمها الخاص من الأمل والخيال.

Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Samah Attari in the Physics Program

Researcher Samah Sameer Attari, a student in the master’s program in physics, has defended her thesis titled “"Iron Doping Effects on Bi_2 O_3 Optical Filters"

This thesis touched upon the effect of iron doping on the structural, morphological, compositional, optical and dielectric properties of bismuth oxide thin films. Bismuth oxide thin films with a thickness of 0.50 μm were deposited by thermal evaporation of bismuth oxide powders on glass substrates under a vacuum pressure of approximately 4-10 mbar. This was followed by doping the films with iron by mixing the iron nano-powders with the bismuth oxide powders before evaporation. The researcher used three increasing amounts of iron for this purpose.

"The Arab American University" Commemorates World Press Freedom Day

The Arab American University has commemorated the World Press Freedom Day by holding an educational symposium organized by the Department of Arabic Language and Media in the Faculty of Arts and Education in cooperation with the Student Union Council, and hosting journalist Ali Samoudi.

The symposium was moderated by the Head of the Arabic Language and Media Department, Mr. Sudqi Mousa. The symposium was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education, Dr. Jamal Hanaysheh, lecturer in the Arabic Language and Media Department, Dr. Imad Abu Hassan, lecturer in the Department of Arabic Language and Media, Dr. Mahmoud Khlouf, lecturer in the General Culture Department, Dr. Mousa Odeh, the President and staff of the Student Union Council as well as University students.

An AAUP Academician, Dr. Dalal Iriqat, Participates in the World Economic Forum in Riyadh

Dr. Dalal Iriqat, Associate Professor of Diplomacy at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University, has participated in the World Economic Forum, which was held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, last week.

Dr. Iriqat was chosen as a member of the official delegation of global young leaders to attend the special meeting, which took place with the participation of more than 1,000 participants, including state presidents, senior officials and international experts from the governmental and private sectors. Her participation took place over two days in discussions of young global leaders that addressed the role of youth, woman and education.
